‘Acumen - the Supply Line to the Automotive Industry'

When a leading manufacturer of car seats and interiors decided to rationalize their supplier base and streamline inbound parts deliveries to their UK plants, they undertook extensive research on the availability of suitably qualified logistics companies before awarding the contract to Acumen.

The contract involves the management of the complete inbound supply chain, including planning the collection schedules and collecting parts from a wide range of disparate locations throughout Europe and the UK. Deliveries are made to assembly plants across the UK on a just-in-time basis using the most cost effective transportation modes including:

  • Dedicated vehicles on UK supplier milk runs
  • Unaccompanied trailers for EU collections
  • European wide groupage services
  • Same day and express freight for urgent consignments

Acumen had already worked with this manufacturer for three years in one discrete business unit, but from June 2006, they became the exclusive UK lead logistics supplier, with Approved Supplier status.
